Obama has taken “historic steps” to improve democracy in the United States

Filed under: Barack Obama,United States — Cato Uticensis @ 5:40 PM

This is an unfathomable statement coming from a President who despises what America stands for and has represented for two hundred plus years. I’d like to know what steps he has taken to improve democracy in the United States!

President Obama said Sunday that the United States is still “working on” democracy and a top aide said he has taken “historic steps” to improve democracy in the United States during his time in office.

The remarks came as Obama met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev — one of the U.S. president’s many meetings with world leaders ahead of this week’s nuclear summit.

Kazakhstan, which has been touting its record on combating nuclear proliferation, is a key player in the NATO supply network to Afghanistan and currently heads the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Obama’s Overall Approval Ratings Drops to New Low

Filed under: Barack Obama,Polls — Cato Uticensis @ 9:49 PM

Two weeks after signing ObamaCare into law, President Barack Obama reaches new lows in his overall approval ratings accord to a recent Fox News poll.

President Obama’s overall job approval rating dropped to a new low of 43 percent. Nearly half — 48 percent — disapprove. In mid-March, it was 46-48 percent. His current rating among Democrats (80 percent) and independents (38 percent) are among his lowest ratings with these groups. He is now in single digits among Republicans (7 percent). By comparison, former President George W. Bush’s approval among Democrats went as low as 4 percent.

The poll finds by a 54 to 39 percent margin, American voters oppose the new health care law. Just prior to the bill’s passage, 55 percent opposed, while 35 percent favored the overhaul.

Among the key group of independent voters, 38 percent favor the law and 55 percent oppose it. When voting this November, more than twice as many independents say they are less likely (39 percent) to vote for a candidate who favored the bill than say more likely (18 percent).

More than two-thirds of Democrats — 69 percent — like the new law. While nearly four times as many Democrats
say they are more likely (39 percent) rather than less likely (10 percent) to vote for a candidate who favored the bill, nearly half say it will make no difference to their vote (49 percent). Almost all Republicans (91 percent) oppose the overhaul, and 70 percent say they are less likely to vote for someone who backed it.

Overall, 38 percent say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who voted for the bill, while 22 percent say more likely. For another 38 percent it won’t make a difference. About a third of respondents (32 percent) say they don’t know how their Representative voted on health care.

Gingrich: Obama May Be the “Most Dangerous” President Ever, “Completely Misunderstands Reality”

Filed under: Barack Obama,Politics — Cato Uticensis @ 12:14 PM

Newt Gingrich was on Hannity last night and had this to say, “The greatest danger is we will end up confusing words with reality in a way that suddenly could get a whole lot of people killed…I think if you were to say, he is potentially the most dangerous…You get an embrace if you’re Hugo Chavez, you get acceptance if you’re Ahmadinejad in Iran, but if you’re an American ally, somehow you’re not acceptable, he can bully you.”

Glenn Beck Lays Out The Case For Barak Obama’s Foundation

President Barack Obama makes fun those that call him a socialist. Just last week, in an interview conducted by CBS’s Harry Smith, he said that people couldn’t back up the “notion” that he’s a socialist. Yesterday’s program Glenn Beck lays out a pretty good case for Barack Obama’s foundation. Watch the videos and listen closely as Beck argues with reason and logic:

Michelle Obama Admits Barack’s Home Country Is Kenya

Filed under: Barack Obama — Cato Uticensis @ 10:20 AM

Did Michelle Obama experience a slip of the tongue when she said Kenya is the “home country” of Barack Obama? Now I’m not a “birther” nor do I want to suggest Michelle Obama is saying Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States, but I do think it odd she would say and even suggest Kenya to be his home country.

The video speaks for itself.

CBS Poll: Obama Plummets To New Low

Filed under: Barack Obama,Polls — Cato Uticensis @ 10:20 PM

It was just a matter of time before the people would begin to wise up to Obama. When you govern against the will of the American people you should expect to reach new lows in presidential approval ratings.

President Obama’s overall job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 44 percent, down five points from late March, just before the health bill’s passage in the House of Representatives. It’s down 24 points since his all-time high last April. Forty-one percent of those polled said they disapproved of the president’s performance.

Bill O’Reilly: Barack Obama Turning U.S. Into ‘Nanny State’

Filed under: Barack Obama,Politics,Socialism — Cato Uticensis @ 12:02 AM

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax, Bill O’Reilly says President Barack Obama is seeking to turn the U.S. into a “nanny state” providing cradle-to-grave entitlements — a vision that will weaken the country.

In the wake of the healthcare reform bill’s passage, O’Reilly was asked whether President Obama is moving the country in a socialist direction.

“Socialist is a loaded word and I don’t like to use it, because it’s too simplistic,” he tells Newsmax.TV.

“If people really want to understand President Obama, and they should, you’ve got to put yourself in his position. Who is Barack Obama? Number one, Barack Obama is a very sincere individual. He believes in what he’s doing. He’s not a phony like many politicians are…“Number two, he is a far-left guy. He believes that the government is there to impose — that’s a very important word — social justice. Not to persuade, to impose, to make laws that say we’re going to take money from the wealthy and give it to those who don’t have a lot of money.

“So he has taken a Western European model and he says, I like that. The nanny state. Cradle-to-grave entitlements. Everybody gets something so nobody is destitute. I’m Barack Obama and I like that, and I’m going to bring that here to the United States, which traditionally has not had it.

“So therefore you have the progressives, which he is, up against the traditionalists who say we don’t want that. That saps our strength. We want to compete. And when you compete, some people win and some people lose.

“Now we’re not going to throw granny under the bus or let babies die, but we don’t want to alter the basic competition level in capitalism, in politics. We don’t want to be Sweden. Sweden has 9 million people, we have 320 million. It’s going to be pretty hard to provide for 320 million people. In fact, it’s impossible. But Barack Obama wants the government to provide.”

Since O’Reilly won’t use the word “socialist” because he thinks it’s a “loaded” word, I’ll use it for him – Obama is a socialist! If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, chances are very good it’s a duck! Get my point?

Obama Tells GOP “Go For It” On Health Care Repeal

Filed under: Barack Obama,Healthcare — Cato Uticensis @ 3:45 PM

With 62 percent wanting Republicans to keep the fight up against the health care reform law, Obama with his smug arrogance challenged the GOP to “go for it” and try to repeal his new health care law, saying Thursday they should “Go for it” and see how well they fare with voters.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – President Barack Obama mocked Republicans’ campaign to try to repeal his new health care law, saying Thursday they should “Go for it” and see how well they fare with voters.

“Be my guest,” Obama said in prepared remarks for the first of many appearances around the country to sell the overhaul to voters before the fall congressional elections. “I welcome that fight. Because I don’t believe the American people are going to put the insurance industry back in the driver’s seat.”

With emotions raw around the nation over the party-line vote to approve the nearly $1 trillion, 10-year law, Obama took the opposition to task for “fear-mongering and overheated rhetoric.”

“If you turn on the news, you’ll see that those same folks are still shouting about how the world will end because we passed this bill,” said Obama, appearing before thousands in this college town where he first, as a presidential candidate three years ago, unveiled his health care proposals. The White House released the text of his speech in advance.

No Republican lawmakers voted for the overhaul, a sweeping package that will change how almost every American will receive and pay for medical treatment. Many in the GOP are predicting it will prove devastating in November for the Democrats who voted for it.

Perhaps Obama is underestimating the anger of the American people. Kind of difficult to gage the mood of the country when every appearance he makes is staged with Obama supporters. There will be hell to pay in November as Obama and the statist Democrats feel the full wrath of the voters.

Bret Baier: I Regret That Obama Chose His Responses the Way He Did

Filed under: Barack Obama,Politics — Cato Uticensis @ 12:56 PM

FNC’s Bret Baier on interrupting President Obama: “I do respect the office and I do believe that in an ideal world in that Blue Room interview I would’ve liked to ask questions, receive answers and move on. But I felt like in this amount of time, with the clock ticking and me getting wrap signs from White House staff members, that I owed it to our viewers and to everyone tuning in to really try to press for answers and not the everyday response that that we’ve been hearing really for a number of weeks – almost a year plus – on health care reform.”
