Illinois State Workers Chant: “Raise Our Taxes!”

Filed under: Taxes — Cato Uticensis @ 7:51 PM

Several thousand state workers turned out for a rally for an income-tax hike. In reality it was the tax eaters of Illinois, otherwise known as Organized Labor, who staged the astroturf Tax Hike Rally in Springfield April 21, 2010.

Bernie Goldberg Does A Classic Rip On Jon Stewart

Filed under: Media Bias — Cato Uticensis @ 1:12 PM

You case you missed Bernie Goldberg’s response to Jon Stewart, well we got it for you. Goldberg was classic…

Transcript provided by NewsBusters

BERNIE GOLDBERG: I will just speak about me. He does. I am pleading guilty. And that’s a sincere plea of guilty. I said that liberals think people who live in the middle of the country are a bunch of jerks, and obviously all liberals don’t think that. But I will tell you what, an awful lot of liberal elites think that. I worked with these liberal elites for 28 years at CBS News, and they were always throwing around the term white trash, by which they meant poor southerners who didn’t go to Harvard. I’m not sure why that makes them trash. As far as the middle of the country is concerned, you know, this was flyover country where people flew the flag on the Fourth of July and went bowling and ate at Red Lobster. You know, they were a bunch of hicks. But even all liberal elites don’t think that. So I am saying I was wrong, Jon Stewart is right.

But let me speak directly to Jon Stewart for just a few of seconds, because I know he watches. He is a big fan of the show. And Jon, if you have an ounce of introspection, you may want to take this seriously. If you just want to be a funny man, who talks to an audience that will laugh at anything you say, that’s okay with me, no problem. But if clearly you want to be a social commentator, more than just a comedian and if you want to be a good one, you better find some guts because even though you criticize liberals as well as conservatives, congratulations on that, when you had Frank Rich on your show, who generalizes all the time about conservatives and Republicans being bigots, you didn’t ask him a single tough question. You gave him a lap dance. You practically had your tongue down his throat. And how about those black columnists who play the race card and generalize about Tea Party people being racists? Why don’t you go after them by name and do it with the same passion and gusto that you use when you are going after Fox people? And how about Bill Maher? Bill Maher generalizes about people who go to church being a bunch of dopes. Is there some rule that says a comic can’t go after another comic?

Here is my final word, Jon, you can do whatever you want. But if you don’t do that guess what? You are not nearly as edgy as you think you are. You are just a safe, Jay Leno with a much smaller audience, but you get to say the f-bomb, which gives your incredibly unsophisticated audience the illusion, the illusion that you’re courageous and that you’re a renegade. But it’s only an illusion.

Rush Limbaugh Blasts Clinton: Didn’t Waco Raid Inspire OKC Bombing?

Filed under: Rush Limbaugh — Cato Uticensis @ 10:13 PM

Rush Limbaugh blasts former President Bill Clinton. Rush said “Don’t forget that the Oklahoma City bombing occurred two years to the day after the Waco invasion.” To further validate the point consider the following from:

From Wikipedia: “Motivated by his hatred of the federal government and angered by what he perceived as its mishandling of the Waco Siege (1993) and the Ruby Ridge incident (1992), McVeigh timed his attack to coincide with the second anniversary of the deaths at Waco.”

From About.com: “McVeigh, angered by the Waco tragedy, decided to enact retribution to those he felt responsible — the federal government, especially the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). In downtown Oklahoma City, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building held numerous federal agency offices, including those of the ATF.”

Americans now prefer Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama

Filed under: Politics — Cato Uticensis @ 3:57 PM

According to a recent poll the American people now prefer Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama. This should be a red flag and a cause of concern for President Obama.

It is, of course, a really silly thing to even think about, given the clout of the Chicago Machine boys currently occupying the White House.

But, just say, the Real Great Talker continues his spiraling descent in the polls over the next 12-18 months; already the Democrat is barely tied with Any Republican in opinion polls looking toward 2012.

Even worse, a majority of Americans have already decided they don't want Obama to have a second term.

And just say under Obama's leadership and insistence on his unpopular healthcare bill over jobs, all the spending and exploding deficits, plus the certainty of new taxes to cover his costs, the Democrats in Congress get thoroughly thrashed by the GOP come November. Maybe they even lose control of both houses.

This week a new poll showed Americans now preferring the GOP on a generic congressional ballot. And despite eagerly optimistic recent administration economic claims, the unemployment rate is likely to hang high, and now comes a new ABC News Poll finding national consumer confidence actually waning, not building.

Do you think then maybe by a year from now some Democratic Party bigwigs and money people might be whispering to each other that this arrogant Illinois guy is pulling a Jimmy Carter, constructing a disastrous….

…single term that teed up 12 straight years of Republican White House rule?

Well, it turns out, there is another Democrat — another former senator, in fact — hanging around now free of political tussles with an enhanced resume burnished on the world stage, thanks to Obama himself.

And a new CNN/Opinion Research Poll has just revealed that even today Americans like that other Democrat more and dislike that other Democrat less than they do the incumbent Democratic president.

That other Democrat is, of course, Hillary Clinton, who fought and scratched her way mightily but unsuccessfully through those bitter, belligerent Democratic primaries and caucuses of 2008. The former first lady and current secretary of State professes no intra-mural interest in challenging her White House boss, as she must as long as she's an administration team member.

The published CNN article focused on an Obama matchup with Sarah Palin. But within the data were Favorable/Unfavorable ratings for numerous prominent politicians of both parties. Here are the surprising new poll numbers for Clinton:

61% now think favorably of the former senator and only 35% unfavorably, both numbers improved from the 56% and 40% she had during the Democratic National Convention in late August of 2008.

Obama has taken “historic steps” to improve democracy in the United States

Filed under: Barack Obama,United States — Cato Uticensis @ 5:40 PM

This is an unfathomable statement coming from a President who despises what America stands for and has represented for two hundred plus years. I’d like to know what steps he has taken to improve democracy in the United States!

President Obama said Sunday that the United States is still “working on” democracy and a top aide said he has taken “historic steps” to improve democracy in the United States during his time in office.

The remarks came as Obama met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev — one of the U.S. president’s many meetings with world leaders ahead of this week’s nuclear summit.

Kazakhstan, which has been touting its record on combating nuclear proliferation, is a key player in the NATO supply network to Afghanistan and currently heads the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

47% Say Repeal of ObamaCare Will Be Good for Economy

Filed under: Healthcare — Cato Uticensis @ 12:20 PM

President Obama said the new health care law would be a good thing, that it would be paid for and deficit neutral. Yet a large majority of the American people don’t think so according to the newest Rasmussen poll.

Forty-seven percent (47%) of voters nationwide believe repeal of the recently passed health care law will be good for the economy. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 33% believe repeal will be bad for the economy. Twelve percent (12%) say it will have no impact, and eight percent (8%) are not sure.

From the moment it was passed, a majority of voters around the country have wanted to see the health care law repealed.

Seventy-six percent (76%) of Republicans believe repeal would be good for the economy, while 59% of Democrats believe it would be bad. Among those not affiliated with either political party, 47% believe repeal would be good for the economy, and 29% believe it would be bad.

1* If the health care bill is repealed would that be good for the economy, bad for the economy or would it have no impact on the economy?

Mike Pence Delivers Fantastic Speech at SRLC

Rep. Mike Pence delivered one heck of a speech. Pence sounded the warning to fight the radical Democratic agenda and challenged the Republican party not to shy away from the challenge. If you don’t have time to watch the full video go to 13:10 when Rep. Pence said, “A nation conceived in liberty has come of age in bondage to big government.”
